Welcome to the United Benefice
of Chaddesden, St Philip with Derby, St Mark

What to expect!

We know that it can be easier to come to somewhere for the first time (or for the first time in a while) if you already know something about the place. This page gives you some more information which hopefully will make coming a bit easier. You’ll be very welcome!

Where should I park?

We have a fairly large car-park, so do please use that.

What should I wear?

Some people wear smart clothes, and some wear more casual clothes. It really doesn’t matter. God is more interested in the heart than your outward appearance- and so are we!

Where should I sit?

There are usually no reserved seats; sit where you are most comfortable. We do reserve a few seats during baptism services for the parents and godparents, but a sign will make this clear.

What happens during a service?

When you enter the church building someone will greet you at the door and give you a copy of the service sheet which contains all of the hymns, prayers, bible passages and service text. It also has a weekly newsheet. Our services last for about an hour. After the morning service we have drinks at the back of the Church. Do come and have a chat with us. If you are not sure what to do, just follow everyone else or, if you prefer, you can just remain seated throughout the service.

Should I bring money?

We do take an offering during a service. If you would like to make a donation to the work of St Philips, you are very welcome to do so.

What about children?

Children are very welcome! On the fourth Sunday in the month we hold a more "family friendly" service where children are actively encouraged to be part of the service.

What about accessibility?

We have a ramp that leads from the car park to the church building. You can enter through the door immediately in front of you. We also have a T-loop in our sound system for those with hearing aids. There is a disabled-access toilet at the back of the Church.

What if I arrive late?

Don’t worry! Please come anyway. Someone will welcome you and give you the service sheet.

Any further questions?

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch and ask.
If you have any questions when you arrive, we will be pleased to help.

We look forward to seeing you
